The successful commercial trial of BHARAT-HiCAT has established Bharat Petroleum as the third company in the world to develop such a niche catalyst. Catalytic dewaxing is a process wherein lube oil base stock is manufactured and this process uses an expensive catalyst. Our corporate research & development centre was able to achieve this feat at one-fifth the cost of commercial catalyst. Using a state-of-the-art technology based on hybrid nanomaterial comprising of activated carbon and metal-organic framework, our R&D team has developed a new material which improves the storage capacity of natural gas at a lower pressure. It helps to store natural gas in an adsorbed form (ANG) with a capacity of ~200 v/v at a low pressure of 35-60 bar. The developed nanomaterial allows us to match the energy density of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) at 35-60 bar thereby offering a platform to reduce the cost for natural gas storage and distribution. #EnergisingInnovation

Only a few global giants have developed their own processes to manufacture Super Absorbent Polymers, which are used as an absorbent for water and aqueous solutions for diapers and other hygiene products and also to improve and prolong soil water holding capacity, decrease drought stress, etc. India consumes 35 kilo tonnes, annually and imports the entire quantity. It brings us great pride to announce that we have invented a process to manufacture it in-house. A pilot plant at our R&D Centre produces 50 kg of this polymer per hour, the quality of which is at par with product developed internationally. #EnergisingInnovation
